04.04.2016 - CONSTRUCTION OF WILDLIFE HIDES continues
Thanks to the beautiful weather, the construction of the wildlife hides has started again!
At the Bunea hide, all that’s left is some finishing work inside, fireproofing, installation of the windows and finishing the roof. If the weather remains favourable, we hope to finish the hide within the next two weeks.
Building the observer from Comisu is also proceeding well and by the end of April, all should be finished there.
20.11.2015 - Construction Of Wildlife Hides Is Making Good Progress
As part of our wildlife watching programme, the construction of the first hides is making good progress. Until last weekend, the foundations were built and our teams of workers currently erect the wooden structures for the hides. As the weather is still beautiful, the hides should be finished the latest by the end of November. The plan is to have them functional for visitors in spring next year.
08.09.2015 - CARPATHIA Photography Camp
Are you a hunter? A photo hunter? Are you interested in nature and wildlife photography?
Then join photographer Dan Dinu in one of the photo-hunting sessions organized by Hunting Association Piatra Craiului-Fagaras Conservation and Photolife. We will provide accomodation, transport, food, and if we like your pictures we will buy them.

Hunting Association Piatra Craiului-Fagaras Conservation, altough a hunting area manager, didn’t shoot any animal. Nature conservation is our priority.
24.06.2015 - Field trip to Comisu
Comisu is the easternmost elevation of the Fagaras Mountains, with a beautiful view towards Piatra Craiului and Iezer-Papusa mountains. Today we went on the field to decide where we are going to build two of the future hides.
20-21.06.2015 - WILDLIFE GUIDE COURSE – FIRST FIELD TRIP
We now started also the practical guide training with the first field trip. Despite heavy rain, we hiked Draxin and Manastirea mountains. The scope of this first trip was to get to know the project area and to see the ecosystems present. Even though it was a large group, we saw 2 roe deers, one stag, and a small bear.
29.05.2015 - FIELD TRIP WITH INTERNATIONAL EXPERT
Neil Birnie from Conservation Capital, joined us for one day to share his vast experience about wildlife watching hides and their promotion. We talked about general hide locations, various designs, and the proposed places.
09.05.2015 - 4X4 VEHICLE
Following public procurement regulations, a public tender has been started to purchase a 4×4 vehicle capable of handling the rough forest roads of the Upper Dambovita Valley. The car will be used for project activities, and for tourist transportation in the future.
04.05.2015 - WILDLIFE GUIDE COURSE – FIRST MEETING
There will be 15 participants for the wildlife guide course, which will consist of 2 parts: A ministerial accredited travel guide course and nature related lectures and field trips.
In early May the course finally started with a first meeting at J’Info Travel, the company who will execute the course.
18.03.2015 - PRESS RELEASE FOR PROJECT LAUNCH
Public information and details about the project has been sent to the Press. Information about the project will show up in Monitorul Expres – Brasov and in Argesul.
13.03.2015 - WANTED: WILDLIFE GUIDES
We are searching for ten outdoor enthusiasts, who want to accompany tourists in the future, and have placed ads in the local media: Evenimentul Muscelean, AKTA Info (the local TV station) and in Podu Dambovitei, Rucar, and Leresti.
12.03.2015 - HIDE LOCATION - BUNEA
After heavy snow fall, we went with Jan Huelseman, the architect who will design the hides, to visit our first hide location. The selected spot offers a good view of Pecineagu lake and Comisu mountain. On the way we met a young bear, who obviously just woke up from hibernation.
27.02.2015 - SIGNATURE OF CONTRACT
After a preparatory meeting with Laslo Potozky – director of Romanian Environmental Partnership Foundation, our project application was approved. Today, the funding contract between the NGO Fund and CARPATHIAs hunters association, for the project: ”Eco-tourism and biodiversity conservation in a hunting area, for sustainable development through wildlife watching programmes” has been signed.
